Donald Joins the Mounties is a book in the Disney's Small World Library series.

Summary[]

Donald Duck travels to Toronto to join the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Unfortunately, he's not a Canadian citizen. During his visit, he meets his cousin George LeDuck. They visit the Canadian National Tower, Casa Loma, Exhibition Park, and the parade; the inspirations of the parade are holidays like Pioneer Days, Canada Day, Remembrance Day, and Victoria Day. He unwraps a package featuring the history of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police book. He learns about the history of the Northwest Mounted Police and Stetson hats. He rides a train to the Algonquin Provincial Park, and sees a girl and Harold in the mine collecting a red diamond; this is an event for tourists called the Gemboree. He finds a Mountie at the headquarters, and sees loggers cutting down trees. Donald thought it was a beaver building a dam to construct its homes. Donald spends the night in the woods alone, hearing howling timber wolf sounds. He runs to the Mountie and explains what happened. The two go to the site of the rocks. Donald thinks there is graffiti and wants to report it right away. The Mountie explains that those were actually petroglyphs made by the Algonquin Natives thousands of years ago. He finds some lost campers. Donald rides a horse with the Mountie and smiles proudly to the lumberjacks and girls building up fires.

Later, back in Toronto, Donald is awarded the Maple Leaf pin, the medal for the Order of Canada, for his outstanding bravery and reporting. Donald says, "This is the proudest day of my life!"
